The Thompson Shuswap Bc Information

Shuswap

Welcome to the beautiful lakeside retreat in the interior of British Columbia!

Shuswap Highland

Located in British Columbia’s Interior, the Shuswap Highland is a plateau-like terrain encompassing low-elevation hills and peaks and spans over 5,000 square miles. Within the Highland there are two large peaks: Mara Mountain and Dunn Peak, both reaching over 7,000 miles to the summit. Despite these diverse elevations, the Shuswap Highland isn’t a continuous mountain range but rather a collection of small uplands interspersed by the valleys of Clearwater, North Thompson, and Adams Rivers. Considered both foothills and interior plateau, it acts as a transition area between the awe-inspiring summits of the Monashee Mountains to the north and the Cariboo Mountains to the south. This remarkable plateau also contains the beautiful Shuswap Lake, the North Thompson River, rolling foothills filled with alpine meadows bursting with wildflowers and many charming towns and cities.

Shuswap Lake, an H shaped water system that provides over 3,000 feet of shoreline and is a hub for water activities of all kinds as well as boasting the largest houseboat fleet in Canada! This plateau offers pristine hiking and biking trails to explore and on the North Thompson River you’ll find more water recreation like fishing and rafting–making the Shuswap Highland an unparalleled destination for nature enthusiasts looking for untamed natural beauty in BC’s Interior.
